Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

This was my entry for a cake design competition in Tel Aviv back in spring 2016. For some odd reason, up to that time I thought I was the only cake designer in the area. Entering the competition revealed a whole new world to me, and it was so exciting. Cake designers from all over the country participated in the event and it was cakestacular! The theme was books and stories. I chose to go with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I entered the competition at the last moment. I only had 2 weeks to work on my presentation while everyone else was already deep inside their projects. But I managed to fulfill my fantasy and achieved my first hovering cake effect! The chocolate waterfall was made from Satin Ice’s chocolate fondant. The whole cake was a little more than 1 meter tall. Willy Wonka would have been proud.

זו היתה העוגה שהשתתפה בתערוכת העוגות המעוצבות של תל אביב באביב 2016. משום מה, עד אותו האירוע חשבתי שאני מעצב העוגות היחיד באיזור. ההשתתפות בתערוכה גילתה לי עולם שלם חדש, וזה היה נורא מרגש! מעצבי עוגות מכל הארץ לקחו חלק בתערוכה וזה היה בהחלט מרשים. התערוכה היתה בנושא ספרים וסיפורים. בחרתי בסיפור של צ’ארלי והשוקולטה. נכנסתי לתחרות די מאוחר האמת. היו לי רק שבועיים לסיים את המיצג שלי כשהאחרים היו כבר עמוק בתוך הפרויקט שלהם. אבל הספקתי להגשים לעצמי פנטזיה והכנתי עוגה מרחפת! את מפל השוקולד הכנתי מבצק שוקולד של סאטין אייס. גובה העוגה היה קצת יותר ממטר. ווילי וונקה בטח היה מתגאה בה.
