Elisha & Yuval’s wedding cake

I don’t like weddings, but I love making wedding cakes. There’s something about creating a multi-tiered cake all in white (mostly), elegant and glamorous. Something that draws me in and lets me explore how high can I get each time. The happy couple didn’t ask for macarons. They left the design to me. Fortunately, a kid approached me when the wedding cake was served and asked me if the macarons are gluten-free. Yes! They are! The kid, who was probably gluten intolerant, was so happy she could join in the fun and dig in. I was happy too. Well, everyone was happy there. The wedding took place in a fish restaurant in Jisr-A-Zarka, right on the edge of a beautiful beach. Yuval and Elisha, and their adorable little girl Akko, live now in Provence, France, were macarons aren’t just a fancy wedding cake decoration, but an everyday cookie found in every bakery across the neighborhood.

אני לא אוהב חתונות, אבל אני כן אוהב להכין עוגות חתונה. יש משהו בהכנת עוגה שכולה לבנה (לרוב), אלגנטית וזוהרת שתמיד שובה אותי. משהו שמושך אותי ומאפשר לי לבדוק כמה גבוה אני יכול להגיע בכל פעם. הזוג המאושר לא ביקש ממני מקרונים. הם השאירו את העיצוב לגמרי בידיי. למזלי, כשהגישו את העוגה בזמן החתונה, ילדה קטנה ניגשה אלי ושאלה אם המקרונים הם ללא גלוטן. כן! בהחלט! הילדה, שבטח היתה רגישה לגלוטן, שמחה מאוד שהיתה לה האפשרות להצטרף לחגיגה. אני גם שמחתי. טוב נו, כולם היו שמחים שם. החתונה התרחשה במסעדת דגים בג’סר א-זרקא, מול חוף ים פסטורלי. יובל ואלישה, וביתם המקסימה עכו, חיים כיום בפרובאנס שבצרפת, היכן שמקרונים הם לא רק קישוט מהודר, אלא עוגייה רגילה שמוצאים בכל מאפייה שכונתית.
