Glass slipper

In addition to Cinderella’s golden carriage, I created this glass slipper from isomalt sugar. I made it for my niece Amal who celebrated her 10^th birthday. I acquired a polycarbonate mold shaped as a shoe, but I couldn’t just pour boiling isomalt unto it. I had to be creative. I attached aluminum foil on the inside of the mold along the shape of the shoe. I poured the hot melted isomalt on it and let it set. When I removed the foil, I indeed got the shape of the shoe with the addition of a wrinkly pattern from the foil that to my opinion added a little magic to the final product. I couldn’t just present the glass slipper as is, so I made a pillow shaped cake for the shoe to rest upon. Can’t get any royal that this.

בנוסף לכרכרה המוזהבת של סינדרלה, יצרתי נעל זכוכית מסוכר איזומלט. הכנתי את זה עבור האחיינית של אמאל שחגגה יום הולדת 10. השגתי תבנית מפוליקרבונט בצורת נעל עקב, אבל לא יכולתי פשוט למזוג איזומלט לוהט ישר עליה. הייתי צריך להיות יצירתי. הצמדתי נייר כסף  בתוך התבנית על פני הצורה של הנעל. מזגתי את האיזומלט החם על זה ונתתי לזה להתייצב. כשהסרתי את נייר הכסף, בהחלט קיבלתי צורה של נעל עם תוספת קמטים מנייר הכסף שלדעתי הוסיפו עוד קצת קסם לתוצר הסופי. לא יכולתי להציג את נעל הזכוכית פשוט ככה, אז הכנתי עוגה בצורת כרית להניח עליה את הנעל. אין יותר מלכותי מזה.
