The end of the unicorn era

For her birthday cake, my niece Aline asked for a sparkly pink dinosaur with wings. I got so excited about this project. I love dinosaurs. I chose a Tyrannosaurus Rex for the project. I even bought a toy T-Rex to keep proportions in check. I didn’t want it to be completely pink, so I added just a touch of pink/purple on the back. I kept the wings pink and decided to add a golden horn to make it look like a creature from a fantasy book. Underneath I placed the actual cake – a classic unicorn cake. I didn’t like how it turned out to be, so I created a second smaller unicorn cake, but in dummy form. You know, for pictures sake. Unfortunately, part of the right wing started to melt. It was so hot in Jaffa! To keep the creation for longer, I asked my niece to take it back with me to Jerusalem after the party. She agreed and now this crazy T-Rex is resting in one of my closets. Sometimes it comes out at night to scare little unicorns away.

כעוגת יום הולדת, האחיינית שלי אלין ביקשה דינוזאור ורוד עם כנפיים ונצנצים. מאוד התרגשתי מהפרויקט. אני אוהב דינוזאורים. בחרתי בטירנוזאורוס רקס לפרויקט. קניתי אפילו בובת טי-רקס קטנה שתעזור לי לשמור על פרופורציות נכונות. לא רציתי שכולו יהיה ורוד, אז הוספתי פס ורוד/סגול על גבו. השארתי את הכנפיים בצבע ורוד והחלטתי להוסיף קרן מוזהבת כדי להפוך את כל העניין לייצור שיצא מספר אגדות. מתחת הנחתי את העוגה – עוגת חד קרן קלאסית. לא אהבתי את התוצאה, אז הכנתי עוגת חד קרן שנייה קטנה יותר, כעוגת דמה הפעם. נו, למען התמונות. לצערי, חלק מהכנף הימני נמס מהחום האימתני שפקד אותנו ביפו באותו הקיץ. כדי לשמור על היצירה ליותר זמן, ביקשתי מהאחיינית שלי לקחת אותו חזרה איתי לירושלים אחרי המסיבה. היא הסכימה וכעת הטי-רקס המטורף הזה נח לו באחד הארונות שלי. לפעמים הוא יוצא בלילות להבהיל חדי קרן קטנים.
