It’s-a Me, Luigi!

I’m a big Super Mario Bros. fan and I really wanted this to be a Mario cake. But I had to abide to my nephew’s wishes and make him his favorite character, Luigi. I had this cake in mind for almost a year before putting it into action. It was intended to my other nephew Jamal, but COVID-19 ruined that planned. So I made it for Youssef. Both of them love Luigi. In fact, I already made a Super Mario Bros. cake for Jamal a few years ago, with a Luigi jumping to hit a block. I didn’t even realize I was creating the same character in the same position until I was finished and then compared the photos of both cakes. The cake was the block on top of Luigi and I made it to look like bricks inside, layering vanilla cake and chocolate ganache to achieve the effect. It wasn’t such a great idea. The ganache made that block of cake so heavy that Luigi was tilting like the tower of Pisa. It survived the trip from Jerusalem to Jaffa nonetheless.
