My dream

Hilmi means “my dream” in Arabic. Hilmi is Sumaya’s father, a good friend of mine from work. For his 50^th birthday, Sumaya asked me to make him a special cake. Hilmi is a construction worker, and pretty passionate about it, so it only made since to “construct” him such a cake. Those bricks were very time consuming, but I was able to achieve my goal with them. Also, I love how the traffic circle breaks the monotone color of the rest of the cake. I even colored the ribbon around the board to make it look more like a construction site.

“חלומי” זו משמעות השם חילמי בערבית. חילמי הוא אביה של סומיה, חברה טובה מהעובדה. לכבוד יום הולדתו ה-50, סומיה ביקשה ממני להכין עוגת יום הולדת מיוחדת בשבילו. חילמי עובד בנייה מקצועי ונלהב, אז היה מן הראוי ש”אבנה” לא עוגה באותו הנושא. הלבנים הללו לקחו לי כל כך הרבה זמן להכין, אבל הם עזרו לי להגיע למטרה שלי. אני גם מאוד אוהב איך שמעגל התנועה שובר את הצבע המונוטוני של כל שאר העוגה. אפילו צבעתי את הסרט מסביב למשטח כדי שזה ייראה כמו אתר בנייה.
