Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!

Oh Rapunzel. How I enjoyed making this cake/candy tower for my niece Amal. The actual cake is the 2-tier green covered fondant cakes at the bottom. The round pillar holding the tower is actually a plastic pipe I covered with fondant. The tower itself? That’s a planter. So yeah, the tower is hollow. I couldn’t keep it empty, so I filled it with lots and lots of candy! You can’t beat a piñata on a cake. I spent so much time on the tower that I didn’t have enough time for the cake itself. I wanted to create flowers, more grass, maybe a stream of water. But I guess the main event is the tower and I love how it turned out to be. By the way, it’s sort of a replica of Disney’s tower. Hence the awesome purple shingles.

או רפונזל. כמה שנהניתי להכין את העוגה/מגדל סוכריות הזה לאחיינית שלי אמאל. העוגה עצמה היא 2 שכבות עוגה עטופות בבצק סוכר ירוק בתחתית. העמוד שמחזיק את המגדל הוא בעצם צינור מפלסטיק אותו עטפתי בבצק סוכר. המגדל עצמו? זה כלי לעציץ מפלסטיק. אז כן, המגדל חלול. לא יכולתי להשאיר את זה ריק, אז מילאתי את המגדל במלא מלא סוכריות. אי אפשר לנצח פיניאטה על עוגה. השקעתי כל כך הרבה זמן במגדל שלא היה לי מספיק זמן לעוגה עצמה. רציתי להכין פרחים, עוד דשא, אולי נחל. אבל אני מניח שמרכז העניינים כאן הוא המגדל ואני ממש אוהב איך שזה יצא. דרך אגב, המגדל הוא מעין רפליקה של המגדל של דיסני. משם הרעפים הסגולים המגניבים.
