Specki’s poodle

Andrea is a dear friend of mine. She was one of the returning guests in the Little House hotel in the German colony. I used to be a desk clerk there and we just hit it off. Andrea lives in Germany and she comes to visit Jerusalem pretty often. On one of her visits, she asked me to make her daughter, Specki, a lemon cake and decorate it with zebra stripes, just like the rug in her daughter’s bedroom. I sculpted a poodle out of black fondant resembling her fluffy pet and placed it on top. I packed the cake in a box and Andrea carried it with her on a plane all the way back to Germany! It survived the trip. I was impressed. Specki was delighted.

אנדראה, חברה יקרה, היתה אורחת קבוע במלונית בית קטן במושבה הגרמנית. עבדתי שם בעבר כפקיד קבלה והחיבור בינינו היה מידי. אנדראה חיה בגרמניה והיא מגיעה לירושלים לעיתים קרובות. באחד הביקורים שלה היא ביקשה ממני להכין לבתה, ספקי, עוגת לימון מעוטרת בפסי זברה, ממש כמו השטיח בחדרה. פיסלתי פודל מבצק סוכר שחור בדמות חיית המחמד השעירה שלה והצבתי אותה מעל העוגה. ארזתי את העוגה ואנדראה נשאה אותה איתה על מטוס כל הדרך חזרה לגרמניה! העוגה שרדה את הדרך הארוכה. זה היה מרשים. ספקי שמחה.
