Tia & Maor’s wedding cake

My good friends Tia and Maor met each other in Jerusalem, fell in love and moved in together. I was lucky to enjoy their neighborly friendship for a bit before they moved to Jaffa, my hometown. They got married there too. They’re both big fans of pistachio, like me. As a wedding gift, I made them this romantic wedding cake, with silhouettes of the lovely couple standing in front of a Jerusalem skyline that included the string bridge, Dome of the Rock, Hurva synagogue, Church of the Holy Sepulcher  and the Montefiore windmill. The cake itself is a fudgy chocolate cake layered with pistachio ganache.

חברים טובים שלי תיאה ומאור הכירו אחד את השני בירושלים, התאהבו ועברו לגור יחדיו במושבה הגרמנית. היה לי את המזל ליהנות מהחברות השכונתית שלהם לזמן מה לפני שהם עברו ליפו, עיר מולדתי. שם הם גם התחתנו. שניהם אוהבים מאוד פיסטוקים, ממש כמוני. כמתנת חתונה, הכנתי עבורם את עוגת החתונה הזו, עם צלליות של הזוג המאוהב עומדות מול קו רקיע של העיר ירושלים שכולל את גשר המיתרים, כיפת הסלע, בית כנסת החורבה, כנסיית הקבר וטחנת הרוח של מונטיפיורי. העוגה עצמה היא עוגת שוקולד פאדג’ית עם שכבות של גנאש פיסטוק
